Call for Abstracts

The Acute Kidney Injury Conference Planning Committee invites you to submit abstracts for poster presentation at the Conference. Please read this Call for Abstracts carefully before submitting the official application form. This form can be downloaded below or at www.buksa.com or can be requested by email from aki@buksa.com. A committee will review each abstract submitted. Authors of abstracts selected for presentation will be contacted via email and invited to present a poster based on their abstract at the Conference. All selected abstracts will be included in an “Abstract Booklet”, which will be provided to delegates at the Conference and which will be made available on the Conference website. There will be an award for the best poster presentation.

Abstract Format

Abstracts should discuss and report on research or an initiative that has taken place or is currently taking place and which provides insights into acute kidney injury and/or the field of critical care nephrology. Topics may include: AKI epidemiology, AKI pathophysiology, defining AKI, cardio-renal syndrome, hepato-renal syndrome, contrast-induced nephropathy, renal replacement therapy, drug dosing in AKI, novel biomarkers in AKI, disorders of sodium/water balance, acid-base physiology, and issues related to quality improvement and patient safety. Abstracts must not exceed 350 words (excluding author list, affiliations, and abstract title). Please use the following headings in your submission: Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusion.

Abstract Submission

  1. Abstracts must be submitted electronically, by email to aki@buksa.com, using the official submission form, on or before Friday, March 19, 2010.
  2. Abstracts must represent original work.
  3. Use of standard abbreviations is desirable. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parenthesis after the full word when it appears for the first time.
  4. Errors, misspellings and incorrect abbreviations will not be corrected.
  5. All abstracts must not exceed 350 words (excluding co-authors, organizations, abstract title and mandatory headings).
  6. An individual may submit more than one abstract. One official submission form is required for each abstract.
  7. You will receive confirmation of receipt of your abstract within 2 working days. If you do not receive this confirmation please contact the Conference Secretariat (780) 436-0983 ext. 229. Abstracts at the Conference

  1. The abstracts are for poster presentation.
  2. The presenter will be required to stand by the poster(s) at specific times to answer questions during the conference. In the case of multiple authors, at least one author is required to stand by the poster at the specified times.
  3. Posters must not exceed 115 cm x 115 cm in size but may be any dimension within these constraints. Oversize posters may not be displayed. Push pins will be provided at the conference.
  4. Presenters of accepted abstracts will be required to register and pay as a delegate for the full conference at the early bird rate.

Copyright Permission

By submitting abstracts to the Acute Kidney Injury Conference submitters authorize, upon acceptance, the permission to reproduce their abstract in the conference syllabus and on the conference website.

Honoraria and Expenses

All expenses relating to travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the individual. No expenses will be covered by the conference. There are no honoraria for abstract presenters.

Conference Registration
